2009 - This was taken in Jan at a club in Boston after a work trip. At the time I was preparing for my big move to the west coast with my then-boyfriend (now-husband) without a ring. I was scared and anxious for our future and what that meant moving across the country away from family and friends, but I listened to my heart. In the end, it worked out because 6 short months later, he proposed (I was completely surprised). While I was happy in love, I was not happy at work. I was traveling 2 - 3 times a month (a week at a time) and eating out because #roadwarriorlife . As a result I was gaining weight and didn't have time to workout because I was working 10 - 14 hour days. I hated my job but stuck it out because of the impending move and the recession.
2019 - Not working out as much as I would like to due to a bad cold, but my focus is moving my body when I can especially if its @soulcycle! My fitness journey and IG has allowed me to connect with so many beautiful souls and share stories regarding fitness, motherhood, work/life balance, etc. I'm thriving professionally in my career in security consulting and have an awesome team that supports me. I have the flexibility for the most part to choose my work schedule to accommodate family time and ensure that I'm able to have dinner and/or tuck my kids into bed almost every night. A luxury I didn't always have when I was at my old job and E was only a few months old. In addition, I'm a few weeks away from graduating from @nutritionschool and am figuring out my next steps related to health coaching. If you're interested in a free consultation (I have a few health histories to submit before graduation), DM me! I have a lot of goals for 2019 that I'm still trying to plan out. Family-related, current job-related, personal, as well as future-coaching business related. 10 years later and I don't have it all figured out and I never will and that's OK. Growth is about progress and continuance, not an end result. That is something I probably didn't truly understand and felt in my heart 10 years ago. But I'm #grateful for my journey and my #glowup 💁😂

  • How true is this post??!! So many pressures on parents these days. Many are in a position they can’t stay at home and parent full time due to the constant increase in the cost of living.
Yet you go to work and then you have MAJOR mum guilt leaving your little one with someone else, you miss out on all those major milestones because you’re lining some fat cats pocket to just get pennies yourself just to get by. Then when you dare to express how hard it is you get the line - “well you shouldn’t have had children if you can’t afford them” 🙄🙄. In this day and age not many would have children if they waited til mum could be stay at home and Dad worked.
The way society is now is making is so much harder for people. Whatever option you choose you are made to feel guilty. People don’t realise as mums you want to be there when your little one falls over and grazes their knee, you want to be the one dropping them off and picking them up from school, we want to be at all the school plays and productions.
But we also want to make sure we have enough money in the bank to pay for the roof over our heads, food and days out and family experiences.
If we could do both we would right??!!!

  • This was me last week, trying to work while having my girls with me. ⠀

My little one decided she wanted to nap in mummy’s arms, because...why not?⠀

As you might have experienced, trying to work while having your children around is not an easy task. ⠀

But I know that if I want to be able to succeed at both I need to keep them separate. I need to create some boundaries. ⠀

Healthy boundaries that allow me to be fully present in both spaces.⠀

So, I like to create routines that help me focus on one task at a time instead of trying to multitask more than necessary. This ensures that I’m not jumping from one role to another and then feeling overwhelmed and stressed because I couldn’t do well at either of them.⠀

There is nothing worse than being around your children and finding yourself still thinking about the things you couldn’t complete. Or feeling guilty because you didn’t spend time with them while you’re trying to work. ⠀

Now, it’s important to remain flexible because sometimes things simply don’t go to plan – like mine that day.⠀

I’m still working on this one because I love what I do, so I find myself sometimes wanting to keep on working. But it’s also important to recognise when you need some rest in order to get your energy back. ⠀

And what a better way to recharge your internal batteries than spending time with the people you love 💖⠀

So, that day I took a step back and breaaaaathed! ⠀

Because sometimes is better and more productive to slow down and go back to things once you’re rested and ready. ⠀

What do you do to be fully present in the moment?
