- The debut album by the Annuals, Be He Me, was released in 2006. I just recently discovered them and they have a great sound and honestly there isn't a bad track on this album in my opinion. Very polished production and arrangements throughout. Interesting feature of this album is that the jacket is made of 100% plantable seed-paper 🙂

- Released on this day in 1968. “Blood, Sweat & Tears” is the 2nd album by Sweat & Tears. It was a huge commercial success, rising to the top of the US charts for a collective 7 weeks and yielding 3 successive Top 5 singles. It received a Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1970. Bandleader Al Kooper and 2 other members, Randy Brecker and Jerry Weiss, had left Blood, Sweat & Tears after their 1st album. Bobby Colomby and Steve Katz searched for a replacement singer and selected David Clayton-Thomas. Three more musicians joined to bring the band to 9 members. Columbia Records assigned James William Guercio (who was simultaneously working with new band Chicago) to produce a new album. This one brings back some great childhood memories, as I recall my parents playing this one often. “Smiling Phases,” (written by Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi, Chris Wood,) “Spinning Wheel,” “And When I Die,” (written by Laura Nyro,) “God Bless the Child,” and “You've Made Me So Very Happy” (Barry Gordy,) we’re all hits. #bloodsweatandtears #vinylcollector #33rpm #vinylcommunity #vinyloftheday #vinylcollection #vinylrecords #vinyljunkie #vinyladdict #nowspinning

Hollies is the third UK album by The Hollies. Released in September 1965.
Review from Galactic Ramble
By now they’d largely abandoned their (admittedly tentative) rock and roll stylings in favour of a commercial guitar pop sound, with five original tracks written by Clarke, Hicks and Nash (under the pseudonym L. Ransford). There are one or two cool tracks here, such as ‘Very Last Day’ (the Peter, Paul & Mary cover that opens the LP, with some nice guitar textures) and a snappy cover of Roy Orbison’s ‘Down The Line’. There’s a light Byrds influence in the guitar tones and some Beatles influenced vocals (especially on their own ‘Put Yourself In My Place’), but in general the material is somewhat obvious and passé (‘Fortune Teller’, ‘Lawdy Miss Clawdy’, ‘Mickey’s Monkey’), making this one of their lesser efforts.

- 🇬🇧 If Are You Experienced changed guitar playing and rock music, Axis: Bold as Love had Jimi Hendrix trying even more experimental ideas, focussing the bands energy on his new compositions and starting to assume some production duties. According to drummer Mitch Mitchell, "Axis was the first time it became apparent Jimi was pretty good working behind the mixing board, as well as playing, and had some positive ideas of how he wanted things recorded. It could have been the start of any potential conflict between him and Chas in the studio". Both producer Chas Chandler and bass player Noel Redding were not happy with the new direction as the constant re-takes and Hendrix’s perfectionism would drive them mad.
