  • Sounds great, right? Freedom from all "flaws or defects." The problem with this definition is that it is a lack of acceptance of our inherent human selves. We cannot be free of our perceived flaws because we ARE our flaws, just as we are our successes. We are our most vulnerable, weakest, shame-seeking selves and we are ALSO our most powerful, loving, unconditionally accepting and courageous selves. We are imperfectly, completely, brilliantly both.

Perfectionism is sabotage. It is self-critical and destructive by definition, because perfect cannot and does not exist. It sets us up for failure, self-judgment and blame because we cannot control every aspect of our reality, nor can we control other people’s responses to us.
So how can we change this? How can we not add suffering to pain?  How can we move forward as perfection-less beings and still find ourselves ever so worthy of expansive, unconditional love?
It starts with an equation, You + Compassion.

  • Not even taking estrogen anymore because I was tired of my lack of energy, muscle weakness, weak bladder, anxiety, caffeine sensitivity, and occasional irregular heartbeats. HRT isn’t for everyone. Since stopping, I feel dramatically better, which is unfortunate but also easy to accept when you’ve completely and totally embraced the 6ft tall amazon woman with certain physical masculine qualities (but luckily a very feminine voice and face) that you are! I don’t care what happens anymore - I’ll ride the line of androgyny if I must. .

  • WINTER WEATHER AND SKIN ✨⁣⁣❄️
    ⁣⁣
So this one is a request! Some of us experience skin changes around this time of year... so I hope these points help!⁣⁣
    ⁣⁣
When it gets super cold outside we expose our skin to two extreme temperatures: when we go outside it’s cold air and low humidity, then we go inside to heated areas that are very warm... both of these extremes can have a dehydrating effect on the skin.... meaning you are left with pretty red, flaky and chapped skin. ⁣⁣
    ⁣⁣
WHAT CAN WE DO TO PREVENT THIS?! ⁣⁣
    1. Stay hydrated. So this means lots of water... when it gets cold, we tend to load our bodies with more hot drinks. These usually contain caffeine which can dehydrate the skin. So always make sure you are flushing your system through with some H2O! ⁣⁣
    2. Try to keep your heating down. It’s actually better for your skin to wrap up, and avoid sitting next to heators or heating systems, as the dry air will only lead to quick skin dehydration. ⁣⁣
    3. Keep your skin moisturised! Use a good moisturiser with plenty of hyaluronic acid in there. You should moisturise morning and night but also consider a third application during lunch! ⁣⁣
Good options I love: Environ Super Moisture, Epionce Barrier Repair Cream, Obagi Hydrate, La Roche Posay Hyalu B5 Serum, Avene Skin Recovery Cream. ⁣⁣
    4. Consider a moisturising mask skin treat every few days. ⁣⁣
Good options that I love: Enviorn Hydrating Clay Mask, Epionce Enriched Firming Mask, Exuviance Oxygen Facial Mask. ⁣⁣
    5. Avoid alcohol based skin products. They DRY THE SKIN OUT. So it’s a no to make up wipes guys! ⁣⁣
    5. Try and ensure you are eating your 5 a day, to ensure you are getting all your required vitamins and minerals. Consider supplementing omega, as this is particularly effective in helping with dry and compromised skin. ⁣⁣
My personal favourite: ANP omega plus! ⁣⁣
    ⁣⁣
Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you can glow like the Ice Princess/Prince that you are! ⁣⁣
    ⁣⁣

  • This was the real reason my family traveled to DC this past weekend - to participate in Wreaths Across America. My granddad is buried at Arlington and in order to honor his memory, and the memory of all who have served and currently serve in the armed forces, my family volunteered to lay wreaths. It was cold and wet and I was sick with a cold but it was SUCH an honor to participate. I am so grateful to have been able to volunteer this year.
    .
Today, I’m back in Miami and trying to return to my routine. It’s a challenge for me to get back in the groove of things after traveling but it is so important to care for myself.
    .
For me, today’s self-care looks like: drinking my delicious superfood shake, writing down everything I am grateful for, moving my body and exercising in a way that feels good (especially after being stuck on a plane and then in a car for 3 hours!), and reading personal development.
    .
Anyone else struggle with returning to their routine after traveling? Drop me a note and we can work on these things together!
