- My primary reason for visiting the Pearl of the Orient, apart from being there with long-time friends, is this:
Nearly non-existent in Singapore, this is found all over Hong Kong. But not all roast goose is created equal.
Though I arrived at an off-peak timing, the restaurant was packed and there was still a small queue.
As soon as I had my first piece, I knew why.
The skin was crispy yet pliable. The meat had a firmness to it but still tore apart easily once you sank your teeth into it. And the juices. Oh, my.
The explosion of intense, complex, yet impressively balanced flavours tell a story of refined technique and precise control in the kitchen.
Consider me a lifetime advocate.
I was informed that the outlet I visited is sort of a 'branch' of the original, which was located in anothet part of Hong Kong, and is close to, but not quite as good.
Since the original is now closed, I suppose it doesn't matter. This is the standard for me now.
Highly recommended. Don't leave Hong Kong without this in your belly.

- Last week I got to thinking, I could not recall ever having specifically tasted Jerusalem artichokes, I’d seen them on a few menu’s, a few soups and hawhat not, but mine beady eye bollocks spied then in Sainsborage and so I snaffled them into the trolley! I roasted them with garlic and oil, sea salt and then finished with a squidge of lemin, they were grand! A reet subtle parsnippy, potato type beast, I liked them, funny thing unbeknownst to me was that they were on the menu at the jamboree that weekend too!! What a lark!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Also featured, Jo’s amazing chicken Malaysian curry and Asian duck salad, WOOF!!
