  • Sorry if I didn't draw much today (had homework to do and is now tired) but this is my attempt at drawing from a higher perspective. This may not seem like much, but I'll produce more drawings in higher perspective tommorow. Feedback will be appreciated if I'm good at it!

  • Be with your feelings - all the way through - until they pass.
    .
I did some networking this morning, which often triggers my perfectionism/shame (aka “not enough-ness”). I hate feeling like I’m hustling. 😝 Sometimes while networking I feel connected and ”a part of”. Other times I feel “apart from”. Today it was the latter.
    .
I made a phone call to a friend in recovery. I intuitively knew who I needed to talk to, and thank God she picked up. She got it, offered compassion, and related it to when she goes to auditions (she’s an actor). Different situations, same hustle-reflex. Same f-ing shame.
    .
Notice I’m not telling you that she fixed my problem, or that she said “hey, look at it this way!” If only it was so easy. She listened and understood and showed me that I’m not alone.
    .
When I keep feelings to myself (especially shame), they grow and metastasize. When I express and share my feelings with someone else, I am actively coping. That is THE WORK. It’s not about: “being strong”, or avoiding these feelings, or expecting someone else to fix how I feel. It’s being with the feelings, all the way through...until they pass. 💫
