  • SSgt Justin Fisher. MOS 0111 Administrative Specialist.
Grew up on a small reservation in Keshena, WI on the Menominee Indian reservation. Graduated high school and went to play football at a D-3 college in Wisconsin and broke my collar bone half way through my first season. Then I went back home to finish the year of school. I knew I wanted something more and coming from a family of Marines, I thought I’d check it out. When I was young in school my grandfather (a former Marine) King Lyons gave me an eagle feather that was white and had a blood stripe in it from a battle with another eagle. My grandfather saw the eagle fall out of the sky so he went around the lake to retrieve it. He reported it and was allowed to keep the eagle for ceremonial purposes and the feather was one of his favorite things from the eagle because of the blood stripe. I didn’t know how important that was and how much it really meant until I earned my blood stripe after I became a Marine. Fast forward, I was in bootcamp January 2010. I took joining more serious after my recruiter saw me box at a local tournament and told me I could fight in the Marine Corps, but either way I knew I wanted to carry on the tradition of being a Marine like my grandfather and uncles. After my MOS school, I got married to my wife on the way to my first duty station at the Pentagon where I worked for my whole first enlistment from 2010-2014. Then, I transferred down to MARFORRES New Orleans and became a Platoon Sgt for the IPAC from 2014-2017. Then in August 2017 I decided to take my family overseas and am currently serving as a SSgt Admin Chief in Okinawa, Japan for 3d Transportation Support Battalion.
Some Interesting things I have done in the Corps are that I worked in the Pentagon, met the Navajo code talkers, and shook hands with the former President of the United States, Barack Obama. I stood in his Presidential Inauguration on his second election. I also ran the Marine Corps Marathon in 2012. I played basketball on US Secretary of Education Arne Duncan’s inter-mural basketball team in D.C. I also became the heavyweight Amateur Boxing Champion of New Orleans in 2016.
