  • Birthday snacks for my dinner! My dear friend that was supposed to join me for dinner had 2 out of 3 of her children come down with strep!😷 We are going to reschedule the birthday dinner, but I’m definitely not going to pass up on this queso and jalapeño poppers! I was also craving crunchy veggies, ya know.. balance. ☺️ These flax crackers are so darn easy and delicious.   • Transformation Tuesday...when your cholesterol is super high and all you can think about is will you live or die, I knew that it was time to finally make a change and focus on my health! I'm down 27 pounds and I have about 10 to 15 more pounds to go. My problem was, I wasn't eating enough...I know right! My friend/primary care dr @drkatina_drk would always tell me..."Exercising is good, but you have to eat Shan!" My early morning walks/jogs, and a combination of Herbalife, Keto diet and Intermittent Fasting has truly helped me shed the pounds.   • I’m using social media to demonstrate my weight loss journey. ..... Often, people think physicians have all the answer, however, I struggled with my weight for years. After discovering intermittent fasting, my mind was blown at the sustainable progress I was able to make without medications! .....
    In 2014, my family and I were incredibly blessed with our growing family! Prior to pregnancy, I was finally losing my residency weight which carried over into fellowship. I was just a few pounds above 200 when I became pregnant. As a trained OBGYN well into my Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship, I was very well aware of the adverse outcomes associated with excessive gestational weight gain. Given my BMI was over 30 at the time, my recommended weight gain would have been a max of 20 lbs. ......
    Well that did not happen. By the time I delivered, I gained more than 60 lbs. it was hard to say I gained the weight for two, given a birth weight of of 7 lbs 2 oz. What came next was 4 years of continuing to struggle with weight. When weight gain is excessive during pregnancy, it makes it difficult to return to your prepregnant weight, let alone a healthy weight if you were overweight to begin with.

    While many think intermittent fasting is a “trend”, it has helped me reach below 200 lbs for the first time in 7 plus years, without pills, medication, or surgery. As more evidence emerges of the benefits, hopefully increased awareness as the true mechanisms of obesity will emerge, lending others to successfully combat the disease. ......
    Calories in does not equal calories out. Obesity isn’t the result of laziness. It’s a disease which needs proper treatment and tools for combat. My #purposeinsocialmedia is to share my ongoing journey and to inspire others to join me. Thank you @doctoranddancer for starting the conversation.

  • Ending 2018 on a positive note...ive reached my goal!
    I've lost 45lbs since 2016. The last 35lbs was strictly by changing my way of eating (keto) this past March.

    Also: because when you’re eating #lchf and doing #IF you don’t really need to do strenuous workouts, especially if you’re in maintenance and not still trying to lose weight. I still do body weight resistance, but I haven’t done cardio consistently in almost a year. You can read all about this in The @bulletproof Diet book, which is the #ketodiet I follow.
