- The quote on the graphic can be found in this excerpt from one of my favourite Austen novels, Mansfield Park. ⠀
...Edmund's friendship never failed her: his leaving Eton for Oxford made no change in his kind dispositions, and only afforded more frequent opportunities of proving them. Without any display of doing more than the rest, or any fear of doing too much, he was always true to her interests, and considerate of her feelings, trying to make her good qualities understood, and to conquer the diffidence which prevented their being more apparent; giving her advice, consolation, and encouragement. ⠀
Kept back as she was by everybody else, his single support could not bring her forward; but his attentions were otherwise of the highest importance in assisting the improvement of her mind, and extending its pleasures. He knew her to be clever, to have a quick apprehension as well as good sense, and a fondness for reading, which, properly directed, must be an education in itself. Miss Lee taught her French, and heard her read the daily portion of history; but he recommended the books which charmed her leisure hours, he encouraged her taste, and corrected her judgment: he made reading useful by talking to her of what she read, and heightened its attraction by judicious praise. In return for such services she loved him better than anybody in the world except William: her heart was divided between the two.⠀

“ I never saw such a woman, she would certainly be a fearsome thing to behold. “
#PrideAndPrejudice is a beautiful romantic story. Whether or not this is something that could actually happen, it makes me happy and I get caught up in the unrealistic romance. Which is why the 2005 version is the best. The cast was filled with talent, the cinematography was stunning and it made this story feel mystical. I found myself swooning from the romance and completely bewitched by #KeiraKnightley . The stolen glances and the shy touch of a finger enhances this movie to be something so tender... yet so powerful.
While this is a #PeriodPiece from oh... so long ago... this is the most modern interpretation of #JaneAusten ‘s original novel. Knightley’s interpretation brings more ferocity to the character, which is what lacked in other remakes.
#RomanOsin was the Director of photography. The careful consideration when choosing the set, wardrobe, and even choosing what date to shoot certain scenes... created Jane Austen‘s universe. Each shot is filled with small details from the book and of that time.
Every scene is stunning.
The screenplay adaptation is just as strong. The tension is so thick, that when it explodes... I feel myself exploding along with it. #Horror and #Thriller movies aren’t the only ones who can use tension. The banter cuts like a knife. Each action has an immediate reaction and the reactions give off some of the best “looks”. I feel each emotion and it’s all because of #JoeWright ’s transformation of history.

- *📽* ORGOGLIO E PREGIUDIZIO *📽*
