  • The best thing I did for myself this year was to truly just start being more myself. I used to be sooo worried about what other people thought of me, no matter what I did. It was always a lose lose situation because even if I was doing things for me, I felt like I wasn’t doing them 100% because I was always looking around in fear of other people’s opinions.

    Happy to say that this is not the case anymore. This page is a perfect example because I was so terrified to create it, I wanted to keep it a private account so no one I knew personally would ever find it lol. Now I want people to find it because it makes me uncomfortable/scared of what they’ll think, & strangely that helps me grow. I’m using this page for good. I’m using it to mentally grow. Days I talk on my story and actually get the courage to post it brings me one step closer to overcoming that fear altogether. Feeling free to post/talk about things I love and truly not giving af about who might be judging me... best thing ever. We live in a world that for some reason cares SO MUCH about what the next person is doing, that I think we forget to stop and take a look at our own lives and ask ourselves if we’re happy with what WE are doing.

    2 years ago, I was diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis (aka painful bladder syndrome). It came after YEARS of bladder issues, recurring UTIs, peeing 20 times a day OR not at all, and a lot of pain and frustration surrounding that. 😫

    Do I love having this procedure? Nope. But it helps tremendously. And out of all the procedures I’ve had in my life — this is BY FAR the best. .
    It helps, yes. But the staff is INCREDIBLE. 👏👏👏

    Kathy at the front desk, Dara and Jessica in the pre-op and post-op, Regina who’s my sidekick, Lacey and Lori who listen to my ridiculous stories and laugh with me as I’m falling asleep, and Dr. Haraway who never fails to listen to me, take care of me, and make sure I leave feeling better than before. 😍

    But, most importantly. All 10 of my cysto-hydro’s, this guy has been there. Holding my hand, making friends with everyone, listening, learning, and taking care of me too. 😘
    .
    He’s been doing that for 10 years. All my ER visits, hospital stays, surgeries, procedures, and even sick days at home. He NEVER misses a beat. .
    And while it’s so EASY to focus on the negative. To be UPSET that at 25, my bladder causes me so many issues. To be ANGRY that the only thing that helps is just a temporary solution. To be BOTHERED that I’m peeing blood, sleeping with a heating pad, and experiencing pain that NO ONE should EVER have to feel. To be PISSED that I have IV marks and tape patches all over my arms.

    Somehow that seems so SMALL in comparison. 🤷🏻‍♀️

  • I remember thinking: “I guess this is just what life is like now, I’m always going to feel like this”. My name is Hilary Crowell, & this is my 7-Month Thrive Experience. I am a mama of 3 young kiddos and full-time Respiratory Therapist. To say we live a busy life would be an understatement!
    Well, at 27 years old I found myself overweight and, honestly, just exhausted no matter what I did!     Be grateful for the delicious flavors and loving preparation.
    No need to beat yourself up because you have 3 family events to attend. Enjoy them!! There is so much negative energy and guilt we put on ourselves all year long about food and eating.

    Perhaps, during this holiday season, try the self-kindness side dish.

    No need to beat yourself up about the gingerbread cookies you ate, if you savoured them, you ate them mindfully one bite at a time, stopping after 2, that is the point.

    My 5 tips for eating this holiday season are:

    1. Just like you discover a new wine, smell the food you are eating.
    2. Chew the food slowly, discovering all of the lovely ingredients and spices used.
    3. Make a goal of having one plate of food, with a deliciously generous portion of vegetables and THEN...
    4. Have a serving of dessert. It is the holiday season and someone lovingly prepared that apple pie. So savour it.
    5. Then go breathe and be grateful. And if someone invites you for an after dinner walk... say yes!! Cheers to being kind to yourself this holiday season!!!!

    And we’re similar. We need the right nutrients, sunlight, and water to really thrive. And when something is off, we start to get symptoms. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
    Symptoms are your body’s way of telling you that something isn’t quite right. That possibly something is missing.

  • Y’all I’m on a @rachlmansfield kick 🤩 these gluten free Apple Cider Donuts are genuinely one of the best things I have EVER tasted 🍩🍎🍏 Again, the ingredients are squeaky clean! I didn’t have GF all purpose flour, so I replaced with 1 c almond and 1/2 c coconut flour and they turned out great 🤤🍩 These are perfect to make for breakfast...or dessert.
