  • Selig is bacon me crazy for their breakfast menu 🥓😍 Since I’m in the mood for breakfast food at least three times a day, I’ve been keen on checking this place out for ages! So worth the long trip in the freezing cold wind 🌬
    .
The pancakes with berries and maple syrup (8€) were at the top of my to-eat list for this visit, and they sure as hell didn’t disappoint! 🔥 The amount of toppings was exactly what we needed to have a great mix of everything in every bite 💝 It’s definitely the denser kind, so if you prefer very fluffy/light pancakes, it might not be the greatest fit. I personally really liked them, and was originally eyeing the bacon pancakes but with the benedicts we decided to go a sweet route.
    .
The bacon eggs benedict (10€) was super close to perfect for me 🤩 My friend and I kept commenting on how generous they were with the bacon, and life got so much better after having a bite and seeing how crispy they were 🤤 Also, the hollandaise sauce was probably the best I’ve ever had 🥇 I don’t know what it was about it specifically, but something about the mixture of the taste and how creamy it was 💕 The only downfall? When I cut into both eggs, it wasn’t as runny as I would’ve liked 😞. Its consistency reminded me of a soft ramen egg rather than the burst-open poached kind, which makes up half the dish itself! It’s not going to stop me from making this order again though, with my fingers crossed for better poached eggs 🤞🏼

  • THE BIG DOG • [ad - invitation] A little more than a week ago I was invited to a tap takeover courtesy of @stoneberlin at @thebigdog_berlin 🍻🌭💖. My friend @allmad7 and I had such a nice time there, the amazing staff take good care of us and didn’t stop bringing food and drinks (we didn’t leave hungry or sober I swear 😂😂😂). Heads-up: our favorite beers were the one with blueberry juice and the IPA 🍺. We also tried the Xocoveza 🍫 and at the beginning it was strange to us and my friend didn’t like it much but I kept drinking and little by little I ended up loving it (I thought it worked perfectly as some kind of dessert-beer because it tasted like beer + cookies 🍪😂). The food pictured here is 📸: their signature hot dog “The big dog” (brioche bun, beef sausage, pulled beef, beer-bbq sauce, romaine lettuce 🥬, cheese sauce 🧀, jalapeño 🌶, crispy cheddar, spicy tomato 🍅 and sweet potato 🍠 - 8,90€) and some fries with guacamole 🥑, sour cream, tomato and tortilla chips. Although I must admit that the beef sausage itself didn’t impress me much, the pulled beef and the rest of the ingredients combined with the softness of their brioche bun were amazing (it was such a nice and original combo of flavors!) 🤤💖. The fried potatoes were good (it’s very difficult to mess it up with fries right? 🍟😂), the guac and the tortillas could have been homemade (that’s me being picky I guess 😝), but they were still pretty yummy, we didn’t leave even one 🤣. BUT NOW let’s talk about the MOST DELICIOUS hot dog I’ve ever had in my life: their Xmas special “El pato loco” (brioche bun, duck sausage!! 🦆, red cabbage, orange kimchi 🍊, plum cinnamon sauce, apple relish 🍎, cranberries and vanilla mayonnaise - 6,90€). The duck sausage was AMAZING, you could feel it was real meat and the combination with the sweet ingredients made it taste heavenly 😍😍😍. I know it might seem a strange mix but I swear it was toooo good. Not to talk about their homemade cheesecake (3,90€) 🍰. We were so full that we asked for only one slice to share but it was so delicious that we ended up ordering a second one 😂🤣😂. Also worth mentioning is that the decorations were super cool!!❤️💛 #Berlin

  • [ad/discount] I can never say no to Brunch, especially when friends invite me 🍽. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As always, I wanted both sweet 🍭 and savoury 🌿 food and luckily she did too and @seligberlin offers a large variety of brunch options for people like us 🍳. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For 8,00 € we had the Pancakes with Berries 🍓 and Maple Syrup🍁. I unfortunately found them to be a little dry and dense but better with good syrup 🥞. My friend liked them better so she ate Pancakes and gave me her half of the BEST BREAD I HAD IN BERLIN 🍞❤. The Sourdough will have its own post because of that 🙆🏻‍♀️. The Pancakes weren't bad at all just a little pricey and dense for my liking 🥞. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Selig is very modern and a good brunch and workspace with lots of windows and plants 🌾that help to make it incredibly comfortable nonetheless 🛋. The staff was also incredibly sweet if a little overworked 🤹‍♀️ and stressed so it took them a while. Love the location inside a church and the open LGBT support. 100% will return!

  • Munching on Mochies after our Ramen 🍡. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Unfortunately, the Matcha Tiramisu that @morimori.ramen offered wasn't quite done so we had two Mochies for 3,50 € 🙆🏻‍♀️. We each got a green and a white one, likely filled with sweet bean paste. I am pretty sure they were selfmade but honestly, I don't eat them often enough to be an expert 🙈. What I enjoyed about these was the floral notes 🌸 because of the pretty edible flowers 🌹 and that they weren't too sweet. It was the perfect thing to end the amazing dinner with @chewchewpop @berlinfoodventures  and @food_in_berlin 🌟. And I had one left to sweeten my work the following day and they still tasted good🍬. A little too pricey but good for a once in a while treat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Thanks again for having us! I hope you have great success 🙋🏻‍♀️.

  • Atlantic horse mackerel ... this weekend’s fish. I am not sure if I have ever prepared this particular type of mackerel at home before. These here are pretty small. The flesh is supposed to be quite oily - like you would expect, but less than the common “Atlantic Mackerel” - so freshness is very important for this type of fish. Let’s see what interesting recipes I can find for it ... plain grilling Japanese style probably is the best! #mackerel #fish #homecooking

  • [unpaid advert, food was free] the lovely Nocky invited a couple of us to try out the food at the newly opened @morimori.ramen last week and I was so excited because you all know how much I love ramen 🍜 but first things first, we also got to try the starters and we chose to share the: pork chashu (€3) - pork belly that’s been poached at 60C for 12 hours 9/10 and Menma (€3) - marinated bamboo sprouts 8/10 🐷 the pork belly was as good as it gets, incredibly tender due to the slow-cooking and full of aroma due to the charring! The marinated bamboo sprouts were also really good, I think they used yuzu as it had a lovely, light citrusy flavour. However, I still can’t really get over the texture of bamboo sprouts, but that’s just on me. All-in-all my first impressions of this cute little place (loved the decorations) were very positive and I was super excited for our ramen to arrive... stay tuned! 💕
