  • Waters Creek is still managed as a trophy trout stream, but it’s widely held the 24”+ trout that immortalized the fishery in the 70’s and early 80’s are gone. Otters, poaching, tornados, hurricanes, and decreased funding have ravaged this stream north of Cleveland, Georgia. That said, this creek still has a pulse. More than that, it’s beginning to rebound. While Waters does not receive any hatchery fish, there is a healthy trout population. You can find wild rainbows the farther upstream you go and on the lower end you’ll likely find a mix of wild trout and hatchery fish that have migrated upstream from Dicks Creek. Access is decent, but fishing in the overgrown forest can be tough. But when you find one, it’s all worth it 👍🏻
