  • Kombucha got my family and I off of our soda addictions years and years ago. We loved the fizz and it was such a great, low sugar and highly probiotic alternative!

You can learn how to make it easily! Click the link on my profile page to learn how!

  • Im super pumped to do what I love this evening- a Gut Health Seminar as @thegutwarriors in Mortdale, Sydney.

It was so important for @jaya_healthyinsideout and I to create a Gut Health Seminar that was unique from all the others out there. One that talked about the things that no one else would...one that addressed emotional health as well as physical health and nutrition, one that was affordable, accessible and able to create easy change straight away...and one that was FUN!

    I think we nailed it.

Super excited to see you, tonight, Mortdale!

    Sammi ✌

  • Mmmm, day 3 of #fermenting #garlichoney
    #organic #raw #rawhoney #flubuster #wildfermentation #fermentation #garlic #potent #yummy
Fill a jar 2/3-3/4 full of raw garlic cloves (whole or chopped is fine, and I use peeled cloves but if you break the skin/crush the clove you can use unpeeled). Cover with raw honey (I have to let it settle into all the crevices a couple minutes and add more) leaving some headspace for the fermenting bubbles, cap and store, shaking every so often (a couple times a day to start... it gets thin quickly, so it’s not hard to mix). Let sit a few weeks or months or years (best to wait at least a month or longer!) then eat as is, take spoonfuls of the honey liquid, use in cooking or to top salads/veggies. Yumm!

  • All this beautiful #fermenting happening! Tepache is done. .
    .
Being snowed in for two days left me little to do. On top of that, living in a tiny house puts some real special challenges for starting up a dye workshop. Since we are waiting for it to get a bit warmer out to set up the solar panels, electricity is tied up heating this place till the wood burning stove arrives. Which put dyeing on the back burner (literally and figuratively). .
    .
So here’s my tepache. I brewed mine with pineapple rinds, organic turbinado sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, ginger and a Serrano chili for some kick. It came out awesome..slightly yeasty/fermenty, lightly carbonated. Delightful. 🌈🍍🌶🥂now to the fridge to chill out before being mixed up with some tequila 🤤.

  • For those of you wondering about the water kefir I posted earlier I thought I’d share how it’s made. 😀 1st obtain some grains (bacteria) 🦠 I got mine locally on Craigslist! You can purchase them on eBay too! Next you’ll need some sugar and non-choline water. I use raw sugar and don’t worry it won’t be to sweet because the grains use the sugar as food to produce the drink through fermentation! Put the sugar, grains and a pinch of sea salt ( for minerals) into a glass jar. I put a coffee filter on top and secure it with a rubber band while it ferments to allow the grains to breath and not let any foreign objects get inside. Now wait a day or two. Taste it and if you like the taste you can just strain and drink it as is but the best way to drink it is to make it into soda! This is the 2nd ferment. Strain the grains and if corse save that beautiful liquid! Oh and you need jars with tight fitting lids for this part. I put a bit of peeled ginger and some pressed apple juice from our local farm stand Sunny Farms! You can use most any juice at this point but citrus makes it slimy🥴 so steer clear. Any other is fine! Put it all in the containers of your choice and let it set awhile longer say 24 hours. When you open it you’ll be rewarded with natural soda! ❤️ It may seem complicated but if I can do it anyone can!!! 😘 You can find a lot of information online so check out water kefir and brew your own healthy soda for you and your family! Oh and a heads up these grains multiply so you can share with your family and friends! I’ll post when I have extra!!! 😉 @sunnyfarmscountrystore #sunnyfarmscountrystore #shoplocal #kefir #waterkefir #waterkefirgrains #fermentation #fermenting #healthydrinks #healthygut #guthealthmatters #guthealth #healthysoda #bepositive

  • These little babies are water kefir grains which are a dairy free alternative to milk kefir grains. You can make delicious water kefir brews using the grains in juice or coconut water 😋. The microbes in the grains will consume the sugar in the liquid and ferment it into a refreshing drink that is good for your gut 💫 #regram @culturedfoodlife #livingnutrition

    👉 Ayuda a problemas digestivos.

Listo! A seguir consumiendo fermentados 🤗🤗🤗 Dale 👍👍👍 a la foto y compártela!
Cualquier duda bienvenida en los comentarios 😀

  • It's been a while since we last posted and we are trying to get back into the swing of things after a somewhat stressful move. We are in a temporary holding pattern until our next big move, but we get to spend a bit of time with family and good friends while we prepare for our adventure. 🏝️🚙 It has been cold here and that puts us in the baking mood. A little while ago we were lucky enough to spend the day baking old world breads with @nancy.d.yoder of the lovely McBurney Manor. Follow the link in our bio to read all about Nancy and her delicious breads. 🍞👩‍🍳
