Rome and its half hidden gems. Away from the glamour of the iconic shopping streets and landmarks lies Piazza del Biscione, a charming little square that conjures up medieval legends and mysteries. It's just a stone's throw away from piazza Campo de' Fiori, the heart of Rome nightlife. I had lunch in a quaint trattoria serving local cuisine inside a 16th century building that belonged to some aristocratic Roman family. A Madonna fresco on the facade reminded me once again of the incomparable beauty and richness of this city, where history and art keep popping out of every corner. That's when I'm mostly proud of my Roman background.
