- What is the “circadian rhythm” and why does it matter? .
.When it comes to weight loss, there is NO single strategy that fits all! MANY factors contribute to weight gain and obesity..So, when losing weight, we need a strategy that addresses ALL these factors. .
.I want you to be smart about what works the best, so you can spend your time and energy on the things that get results! .
.So how does the circadian rhythm affect your weight? .
.Your body has a natural rhythm for releasing certain hormones.. this internal clock is known as the circadian rhythm. .
.This rhythm is part of our genetic code, and passed down to us from our Paleolithic ancestors, when food was not available outside of daylight hours. Our hormones adapted to this “daylight” effect, and have a predictable pattern of release..
.So first instance, in the morning your body has a VERY low level of ghrelin, the hunger hormone- that’s why most people do not feel hungry when they wake up..
.Insulin levels rise through the day, and insulin response to a meal is HIGHEST in the evening. .
.So let me state that in a different way..if you eat the same meal at lunch, your insulin level will rise, but not as much as it will if you eat the SAME meal at night!
.Insulin is the MAIN player when it comes to obesity, because it causes us to hold on to food as fat. .
.If you follow your circadian pattern, for optimal weight loss, you can try these hacks: .
.1️⃣eat breakfast late in the morning - around 10.. I normally have coffee around that time.
.2️⃣have a bigger lunch
.3️⃣eat dinner early (by 7 pm) .4️⃣Most important - NO LATE NIGHT SNACKS! .
.Of course you have to find a pattern that fits your life...Here’s what I do:
.I fast till 10 AM and drink my coffee at that time
.At work I eat nuts and have my pomegranate smoothie
.I eat one main meal a day, 😂 around .4 30 with my kids..
.And after that I may have an avocado or soup .My challenge is trying to find the time to fit in all my micronutrients in! 💪🏼🤣 .
