  • I have posted about my client Ed before, but he received some of the best news last week!! Please read!!!! A little back story, Ed had his first heart attack at 37 and his second at 38. 😳 He was dealing with a lot of stress and not living a healthy life. As years went on he had 3 more heart attacks and a diabetes diagnosis.
Fast forward to the last year, Ed, 63 years old started working with me, changed his eating habits, started crossfit, and he has a better quality of life than he knew was possible.
THE AMAZING NEWS: He saw his heart doctor for his bi-annual check up. He doesn't have to go back for 1 year and he no longer has to do stress tests due to turning his health around!!! He has had to do these tests twice a year for as long as he can remember!! NONE of this would have been possible without HIM wanting a change bad enough to hire the right people to help him, took control of his own health, and didn't make ANY excuses!!! He eats a balanced diet of protein, carbs and fats. No restrictions, no crazy diets, no quick fixes!! Pure dedication and a desire to be healthy!! He goes to CF 3x week and rides the stationary bike 5-6 miles 2 days.
Sooo proud of you Ed!! And in his own words, "He's not going back" What an inspiration!
Get rid of your excuses people!

This is Ed. He’s 63 years old, survived 5 heart attacks, diabetic, and was not able to deadlift a barbell before he joined our Master’s(age 50+) program. It’s been almost a year since he joined and his blood sugar is stable, no heart attacks, and can now deadlift 145 pounds 5 times for 5 sets.

If you’re someone or know someone that think it’s too late to start, send us a DM and we’ll help them start! .

  • Lovely morning burning off some energy at soft play this morning, followed by a venture into town to pick up some groceries and have some lunch. Kiddies spotted a juicy pineapple they fancied for a snack later so I gave them the money and they happily went running off to the fresh fruit and veg stall to ask the man. I’m always so puzzled when people seem so concerned about home ed children and the apparent ‘lack of socialising’ as those in school! To me school socialisation is so different to any other environment they’ll ever be in again when they reach adulthood. Learning life skills and chatting to people of all ages amongst the community is surely so much more important! The lady in the shop asked why they weren’t in school today and all 3 responded straight away with “we are homeschooled and so much happier now” it was then followed by them all giving the lady their life stories and where each of their strengths lie 🤣 I just love how much more confident they are now! #triptotown #freshfruit #fruitandvegstall #confidence #buildthemup #socialising #community #happiness #outandabout #homeed #homeeducation #homeeducationuk #homeschool #homeschooling #homeschoolfamily #lifewithoutschool

  • We’re sharing our thoughts on why fundraising events such as Muddy Mayhem are so important to the community that we serve.

As well as being the perfect opportunity to get fit and have fun, each person that takes part in Muddy Mayhem plays a vital part in helping us to continue providing quality end of life care to those in need. Every pound makes a difference to our patients, keeping them at the heart of everything we do.

This year, our Muddy Mayhem fundraising target is £60,000. So, what does this figure mean to Garden House Hospice Care?

Reaching our target means we can pay to run the whole Hospice for 9 days. When broken down, this figure could also pay for:
A senior staff nurse for 250 days
A nurse to make 2,000 visits to care for a patient in the comfort of their own home
    338 days of physiotherapy
Can you help us reach this year’s target? If you’ve already signed up to take part in this fantastic event, thank you! Now is the time to shout about it and share your fundraising challenge pages with your friends, family and colleagues.

Work for a corporate company? Ask your employer if they are active in match funding to help double your donation at no extra cost to you.
Know someone who is taking part? Show them your support by cheering them on on the day and by parting with a few pounds in aid of palliative care.

Or are you simply up for a new and exciting challenge to start 2019?
We’d love to have you join us all on Saturday 23rd February at Knebworth House for a 5k obstacle course to remember.

    Sign up online today.
