  • Doing my first vegan fair this Sunday in Clevedon with @veganfairs. Rather daunting but hoping it goes well 😬😅 There will be loads of goodies there so will probably spend a chunk of my earned money at my fellow trader's stalls 😅

    I'll only be featuring my unique range of vegan cheeses, including a loads & loads of feta for all the feta freaks out there!

    The fair is on Sunday 16th December in Clevedon Community Centre and the Princes Hall, 2 Princes Road, Clevedon, BS21 7SZ. 10am till 4pm.

  • I picked up this baking mix at Target on Black Friday, and made it the other day. (I really love Kodiak pancakes.) Honestly, it was extremely disappointing. Brownies are just one of those things that don't actually need to be protein packed, and this was yet another reminder, even with the Dove caramels I sprinkled on top, that trying to make certain foods "healthier" isn't always a healthy choice. After tasting (and throwing away) these brownies, I chose instead to eat some Dove caramels. Chocolate craving? Satisfied.👌

    The truth of the matter is that foods like brownies, cookies, and cake really just aren't meant to be "nutrient powerhouses." While there isn't anything wrong with ingredient experimentation in baked goods, trying to fulfill a craving with low-calorie, low-fat, low-sugar, high-protein (or whatever else) substitutes just doesn't work. More often than not, such attempts lead to a vicious binge cycle: the fake "brownie" doesn't satisfy, so we go searching for something else. Most of time, we end up eating at least two or three times as much as we would have had we just eaten a real treat in the first place, and we instead feel bloated, uncomfortable, and usually GUILTY. ————————————————————————
    My advice for how to get rid the feelings of guilt surrounding food? Don't label food as good or bad. Eat what you're craving. Choose foods that satisfy. You'll be amazed at how much self-control you have when you stop trying to micromanage what you put in your mouth!
