  • Head of Conservation Kathy Gillis sent us a report on her visit to the National Museum of China in Beijing:
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
An entire floor of amazing artifacts from the (extremely long) history of China left my brain wheeling. The technology that China had perfected in the creation of these beautiful works, long before Europe, is unbelievable. Besides Ancient China there were galleries dedicated to Chinese money, porcelain and jades. These collections are beautiful, but I also could appreciate that the Asian Art Museum’s holdings in similar categories (except maybe the money) are just as exquisite. We may not have the quantity, but we certainly share the quality!
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The National Museum even has its own “Reina the rhino.” Theirs is a bit more fierce-looking than ours, but that didn’t prevent the museum from turning it into a playful image for the gift shop. Something about rhinos …

  • For Day 71 of #100DaysofHealingandRemembrance , I added a few variations of peach to the top of the painting in honor of Brooke Maltarich and her experiences with infertility, loss, grief, and finding support and friendship through it all.
    .
“In the years since our journey started, I lost my sister and my dad. A lot of loss and grief. The only thing that carries me through is my close-knit group of friends who have also struggled with infertility. Before we all got pregnant we got together every few weeks to talk and cry and share which meds we were doing etc. I'm so thankful for them. One friend I found on an online forum about infertility and we decided to meet up. I guess in the end I gained wonderful friendships and a beautiful boy but in the middle of that, it was a dark dark time.”
    .
This  #100DayProject  captures the experiences of those of you who have been touched by infertility, miscarriage or infant loss.
    .
With the stories you share, I’m creating one large abstract painting by adding to a canvas. At the end of the project, I’ll be cutting it into 100 smaller pieces. These tiny abstract paintings will be sent to those who contributed or could use some encouragement, or both.
    .
Why do this? Because those of us affected are all part of an unintentional and unfortunately large community of people who don’t talk about these experiences enough, and art is healing. We can find beauty and strength from sharing our stories and supporting each other. To read all of Brooke’s words for this day (Day 71) and participate, please go to: angelacravenart.com/100-day-project

  • Sick as fuck.
Even the beggars on subway skipped me while there were asking money from people. (Come on, you are American, get a JOB)
I had my mask on and I couldn’t stop coughing.
I have two rehearsals and then I bought 8 kiwis and 4 limes (and two chocolates???), I have to get better on Saturday for the performance. This is #actorslife
    I can’t believe how nice I was on subway that I let those two high school chicks sang next to me. #sick #day #working #artist #nyc #nycart #artlife #painful #wednesday #winter #sadness
