Today’s anime is Seishun Buta Yarou or “Rascal Doesn’t Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai.” The show follows the MC, Sakuta, as he helps others with their own cases of “puberty syndrome”, a phenomenon that varies in people depending on the problem that caused it to appear. The show follows an A to B format, with one problem being presented and solved and then going on the next. The arcs are short and enjoyable and transition between each other nicely. The ending wrapped everything up nicely with having a very mature and realistic ending instead of appealing to the “everything was perfect” fantasy but still managed to be a very good ending at that.
👥Characters- For me the main selling point were the characters and how realistic and entertaining they were in the sense of interactions between one another. Here you don’t have the stereotypical dense MC but rather Sakuta who says whatever is on his mind without care for what others think as well as plenty of waifus to choose from, each with their own charm.
🎼OP/ED- The OP for this anime took around five episodes for it to grow on me but after that it was enjoyable. As for the ED, it is amazing quality; not once did I ever skip it. The ED comes in five lovely different variations as well as the ultimate version with all the girls singing the song together.
🎬Overall/TLDR- Bunny Girl Senpai is a break from the idealistic romance shows that could only happen in a fantasy world with each character having to overcome their hardest issues in order to rid themselves of the natural and supernatural consequences that they have. The show has amazing characters, comedy, and an intense emotional roller coaster that leaves you in suspense for the next episode to see how things are resolved. Personally the show had a satisfying ending that fit the characters’ personas perfectly; whatever few loose ends that were left are to be addressed in the movie sequel. Overall a great watch with my only quarrel being that I would’ve wished the show to be longer to give more time for specific arcs but regardless, it didn’t take away from the experience.
